|Notices are used to conveniently post information to various different parts
of the web site. Start by clicking on the "Notices" tab in the
Adding A Notice
Click on the "Add Notice" option from the right side menu.
We will create a sample notice that will appear on the right side of the page
under "What's New."
Enter a name for the notice title. If you would like to specify a start
and end date you can set the values in the appropriate boxes, otherwise leave
them empty. Check "Show in All Seasons" if you want the notice to remain
visible even when the season changes, leave it unchecked if you only want it
visible in the current season. For the Notice Board, select "Rink Rat" (an
explanation is provided below). If you want to specify a division or team
the notice should display in, choose them from the appropriate list box.
Most Notices Boards are displayed throughout the entire site so you do not need
to choose a team or division.
Enter preview text in the Notice Preview box, and leave the Notice Text box
empty for now. If you are familiar with HTML, you can copy and paste the
HTML right into the box. Most people will prefer to use Pagebuilder,
described in the next step, Editing Notices. Do not forget to click
"Save". The notice should now be displayed on the Notices list.
(Home Page Bulletin): This is a pre-configured notice that appears on your
home page. Do not change the title of this notice, delete it, or attach it to
any Notice Board. You can edit the content freely.
(League Bulletin): This is a pre-configured notice that appears on your
"League Info" page (called "Info" page in Tournament versions). Do not change
the title of this notice, delete it, or attach it to any Notice Board. You can
edit the content freely. This notice is not used in the Team version.
(Register): This is a pre-configured notice that serves as a placeholder
for the player registration page. If you do not need a registration page, you
can deactivate the link by changing the title of this notice, deleting it, or
attaching it to a Notice Board. If you later decide that you would activate the
registration link, simply recreate this notice. Remember that the title must
include the parentheses. This notice is not used in the Team or Tournament
Admin Welcome: This notice appears on the main PageBuilder page when a
Team Manager logs on. Users with system level access will not see this message.
This is a great way to pass information to Team Managers. This notice is not
pre-configured if your site was installed prior to June 2002. You can create it
yourself in the same way as other notices.
Userboard: Notices attached to the "Userboard" will have their own page.
The title of the notice will appear in the Navigation Menu on each page.
Clicking on the title link in the menu opens the notice page.
Rink Rat*: Notices attached to "Rink Rat" will have their own page. The
title of the notice will appear in the Sidebar on each page, together with a
"Notice Preview" (if any) and a link to the notice page. Clicking on the link in
the sidebar opens the notice page.
League Notices** : Notices attached to "League Notices" do not have a
separate page. The full notice will be displayed in the sidebar. The Sidebar is
best suited to brief notices that are changed frequently.
Teamboard: Notices attached to the "Teamboard" will have their own page.
The title of the notice will appear on the main page of each team. Clicking on
the title link opens the notice page.
None: You can use this to de-activate a notice without deleting it
(except for pre-installed notices).
Advanced tip: You can still link to the notice even though it is not
displayed. To do this, first create the notice on the "Rink Rat" board, then
open your league's web site and follow the notice link under "What's New".
Copy and paste the URL from your web browser and use it in HTML elsewhere on the
site to link to the notice text.
*Also known as "Sidebar with Link" in some versions.
**Also known as "(Sidebar)" or "(General Notices)" in some versions.
Editing Notice Content
Click on "Edit Notice" from the right side menu. Choose the notice you
want to edit and then click on the "Edit Notice" button. You will see the
Pagebuilder Editor. You can type your notice into the space provided and
click on the "Preview" button at the top right hand corner. Then you can
publish it to the web site by clicking on "Publish". A more detailed
description of the Pagebuilder Editor is provided here.
From the Pagebuilder Editor screen shown above, click on the link for
"Pre-formatted Editing". This will take you to a screen where you can edit
HTML and upload images in pre-formatted paragraphs. This provides an
alternate method from using the Pagebuilder Editor and you should use whichever
you feel more comfortable with. If you are using both the Pagebuilder Editor and
Pre-formatted Editing, remember that only the first paragraph of the
pre-formatting editing will be editable in the Pagebuilder Editor.
You can edit your paragraph headings and content from this page, and if you
want to insert an image just click on "Choose."
Editing Notice Properties
Click on "Edit Properties" from the right side menu. Choose a notice
and click on the "Edit Properties" button.
You will see the same screen as when the notice was first created, and you
can change any of the notice properties from this screen.
Editing the Standard Notices
On the Notices list, there are several standard notices that are
automatically created when the league is set up. They include (Home Page
Bulletin), (League Page Bulletin), (Pre-season Bulletin), and (Post-season
bulletin). The home page bulletin is displayed on the web site home page
in the middle of the page, the league page bulletin is displayed on the League
Info page, and the pre and post season bulletins are displayed when the pre and
post season is active. You can treat these notices just like regular
notices, but do not delete them.
